Lumumba wants Lalong to give more support to Plateau Utd

- By Amarachukwu Nwankwo

A former NFF presidential aspirant, Hon. Lumumba Dah Adeh has commended the governor of Plateau State Barrister Simon Lalong for his massive support for the reigning NPFL champions, Plateau United.

The former member of the House of Representatives from Plateau State also demanded for more support for the team from the governor as they get set to represent Nigeria in next year’s CAF Champions League.

Lumumba who spoke to Daily Trust on phone said, “I congratulate governor and the team on the victory. From day one when the team was almost losing promotion at the point he came in as governor, he didn’t spare any effort to support them to get promoted.

“Ever since then he has not looked back in terms of support both morally and financially. It is a mark of his love for sports having been a footballer himself.

“The club had remained for years in the lower division struggling year after year for promotion without success. But he came and turned things around. So that was beginning of the story of the present Plateau United.”

In addition, Lumumba called on the governor to support the team to bring in more quality players and also beef up the technical crew for the continental challenge. He said it will be a capital intensive project so the government should be prepared to give the club all the necessary support.

“My call to the governor is that he should be prepared because it is a capital intensive project. It is very much financially demanding so he should not spare any such effort or energy and take advantage of this present momentum,” he said.
