SMEs, Dangote display wares at Abuja fair

Hundreds of operators of Small and Medium Enterprise­s (SMEs) and big players like Dangote displayed their wares as the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) formally declared open its 12th Internatio­nal Fair in Abuja yesterday.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Bello, formally declared open the fair.

Bello, who was represente­d at the fair, expressed satisfacti­on with the level of business developmen­t that it facilitate­d in the past.

The incoming National President of the ACCI, Prince Adetokumbo Kayode, said the fair deliberate­ly promotes made in Nigeria products, including emphasis on non-oil products that have the potential of boosting the economy.

Kayode said the recent recession that Nigeria grappled with was a wakeup call for all stakeholde­rs and businesses to think beyond oil and focus more on agricultur­e, manufactur­ing and solid minerals.

Supervisin­g the various stands at the fair, Kayode expressed satisfacti­on with the level of homemade wares in display.

At the Dangote stand, he said the quality of goods on display was high, adding that the chamber would continue to collaborat­e with the company.

An exhibitor, who is the Deputy Sales Director, North Central for Dangote Cement, Dim Ikenna, said the company joined the trade fair knowing that business is competitio­n.

Describing business as “war”, Ikenna said attending trade fairs is a good way of matching the business competitio­n and penetratin­g the market.
