A seven-man gang said to be responsible for vandalism in Ogun State has been arrested by the Vigilante Service of Ogun State (VSO), City News gathered yesterday.

The suspects – Segun Isaac, Amah Samuel, Tolu Monday, Sunday Jimoh, Michael Ibrahim, Koku Sunday and Mojeed Olamilekan – were arrested at the Kajola area of Mile 8, along Idiaba/Ajebo/Obafe road in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to the Director of Information and Public Relations of the VSO, Moruf Shittu-Balogun, nemesis caught up with the men as they were rounded up by the vigilante routine patrol team in the early hours of yesterday.

“The operation was carried out by our routine team patrolling that axis. They have observed the taxi for some time and waited for the owner. After some hours’ wait, the gang came out from the bush with some stolen cables and the motor and loaded their car. Our team then acted promptly,” he said.

He added that the arrested gang had made useful statements which have been transferred, together with the men to the state police command for further investigation, assuring that the new VSO leadership was poised to collaborate with the police to combat crime in the state.

Items recovered from the suspects included a roll of 150mm cable, one industrial electric motor and the taxi cab in Ogun colour with number GBE 378 XA.
