The Zambian national team held their first training session at the Marcel Desailly Stadium yesterday, as players and officials of the Copper Bullets were accommodated at Best Western Premier Hotel located at 17 White Avenue, Quartey Papafio Avenue, Airport Residential Area during their four-day stay in Accra. South African-based pair Roderick Kabwe (Ajax Cape Town) and Justin Shonga (Orlando Pirates) linked up with the squad in Johannesburg on Sunday prior to their trip to the Ghanaian capital.

“‘We all arrived safely in Accra yesterday (Sunday), the first group arrived at 17:30 hours while the second group flew in at 22:35 hours.

“So far Roderick Kabwe and Justin Shonga are with us as first foreign based players to join camp,” team manager Team Manager Chris Chibuye told Fazfootball.com.

Russia based duo of Stoppilla Sunzu (Arsenal Tula) and Fashion Sakala (Spartak Moscow) are scheduled to join camp on Monday morning.

Meanwhile, Zambian national team coach, Wedson Nyirenda has warned that the game against the Super Eagles of Nigeria will need a strong psychological approach.

Chipolopolo will visit Nigeria for 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier next Saturday, October 7 as they look to book a spot at the tournament in Russia.

Nyirenda says he is preparing his troops mentally and anticipates a tough encounter in West Africa next weekend.

“This game will be highly psychological, therefore we are working on their mental strength before the match,” Nyirenda tells FAZ website.
