No vacancy in Abaji chairman’s seat in 2019 - Council scribe

- By Abubakar Sadiq Isah

The secretary of Abaji Area Council, Alhaji Kamal Adamu Shuaibu, has declared that there is no vacancy in the council’s chairman’s seat in the 2019 council election in the area.

Speaking in an interview with our reporter, yesterday, Shuaibu said the incumbent chairman, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, deserved a second term because of his sterling performance in addressing some basic needs of the people of the council.

He said despite the challenge of lack of funds, the council chairman has managed the meagre resources available to improve the wellbeing of residents of the council.

He said the residents have mounted pressure on the chairman to declare for a second term. He said the chairman was yet to do so because of his commitment to meet up with the yearnings and aspirations of the electorate.

“In fact, the chairman is going through tremendous pressure to declare for a second term but he is more committed to providing good governance to residents than politicking.

“It is on this premise that I want to make it clear that there is no vacancy in the chairman’s seat in 2019, “he said.

Shuaibu said the council chairman’s effort in putting a lot of pressure for the construction of a bridge across River Gurara to link Mawogi village would be an added advantage for him to secure a second term.

The council scribe described the chairman as a man of conscience and passion for the people of the council.

He said the chairman has been operating an open door policy without discrimination irrespective of party, religious or ethnic differences.
