Why I poisoned my husband, brother - Suspect
The 15-year-old bride arrested in connection with the death of her husband and younger brother has said she killed him because she didn’t love him anymore.
Dausiya Abdulmumin of Unguwar Danmayaki village in Bakori Local Government Area of Katsina was alleged to have killed her husband one Saminu Usman, 27 and her 8-year-old younger brother, Muhammad Abdulmumin.
However, one Shafa’atu Usman, 23, Usman’s younger sister survived the food poisoning that killed the two.
Speaking with journalists, Dausiya said “I was forced to marry him, and weeks to the marriage he had an accident that deformed him which compounded my woes.
“More so I am pregnant ahead of the marriage to one Abdurrashid, our neighbour in the village whom I love.
“I sent for N40 rat poison which I spread in the rice and beans I cooked which they ate, I never imagined it will be like this,” the crying teen bride confessed when she was paraded at the Katsina police headquarters.
Daily Trust reports that Dausiya who is two weeks only into the marriage, was said to have put rat poison in the food of the deceased persons that led to their death.
Speaking on the incident, the state Commissioner of Police, Besen Gwana, said the victims were rushed to Funtua General Hospital were they were certified dead on arrival just as Shafa’atu, the only survivor, was treated and discharged, he said
The suspect will be charged with culpable homicide as soon as investigations are concluded, he added
