Ganduje vows to complete Kano IPP this year

Kano State Governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has promised to complete four major projects, including state-owned Independen­t Power Project (IPP), this year.

Addressing a press conference yesterday, the state Commission­er of Informatio­n, Malam Muhammad Garba, said other projects to be completed this year include Kofar Ruwa Underpass, Ultra modern skills cquisition center and Murtala Muhammad overhead bridge.

Garba explained that the 2018 budget of Kano state was designed to complete uncomplete­d projects, noting that some of the targeted projects had reached various stages of completion.

He said, “In 2017, the present administra­tion had executed various projects for the wellbeing of the people. Among the projects include dualizatio­n of CBNMaidugu­ri road at the cost of N713.7m, reconstruc­tion Way of CBN-Kundila road at N119.4m, constructi­on of access road at Cahllawa/ Tiga for easy access to the ongoing IPP project site and constructi­on of Sharada/ Madobi junction underpass at the cost of N1.1bn.

“Rehabilita­tion/ reconstruc­tion of Baban Kwari road at N144.6m, reconstruc­tion of Lamido road at N249.3m, reconstruc­tion and dualisatio­n of Court road (Sabon-Gari) and constructi­on of Rumfar Shehu road at N209,6m.”

The commission­er added that Kano state government had executed other road projects in the rural areas through its popular scheme, Rural Access Mobility, otherwise known as Karkara Salamu Alaikum.

He said the roads include 9.8klm Maitsidau road at the cost of N158.5m, 8.5klm Saye road (N150.6m), 12.4klm Kachako-Jirago road (N150.9m), 8.7klm Bebeji road (N126.9m), and 11.2klm Garun Malam-Agalawa road at the cost of N160.9m.
