CHAN Eagles’ Ibrahim confident of victory over E/Guinea

- By David Ngobua

CHAN Super Eagles striker, Mustapha Ibrahim has expressed confidence that Nigeria will pick the maximum points against Equatorial Guinea in their final Group C match in the ongoing Africa Nations Championship in Morocco today.

The Super Eagles face the whipping side of the group in today’s must win match even as they presently sit on top of the group with four points after drawing their opening match against Rwanda and winning 1-0 against Libya last Friday.

Ibrahim whose introduction in the second half of the match against Libya helped in piling pressure on the opponents’ defence told Daily Trust in a telephone interview that he will give his best performance to make sure that the Eagles win to top the group. He said even as he is yet to start any match in Morocco, he is not perturbed because the coaches have their game plan.

The Enyimba FC striker however said he would want to open his goals account in the match against Equatorial Guinea.

“Our match against Equatorial Guinea is not going to be an easy one. It is true they are yet to pick a point but that is what makes them dangerous.

“They won’t want to go out without a point and if we are not careful, we would be their only victim in the championship.

“We shall do our best to win the maximum points. Our victory over Libya has done so much to calm our nerves. We shall take our chances henceforth,” he assured.

Ibrahim therefore called on Nigerians to continue to pray for the Super Eagles as he said they should know that there are no more minnows in world football.
