Obasanjo’s mischief against Buhari won’t stand — Doguwa

- By Musa Abdullahi Krishi

The comments made against President Muhammadu Buhari by a former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, are pure mischief which will not stand, Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has said.

Doguwa, who spoke to journalists in Abuja yesterday, in his personal capacity, said Obasanjo only succeeded in exposing himself as an incredible person, calling on all well-meaning Nigerians to disregard the former president.

Hon. Doguwa said Obasanjo’s comments were a clear case of “corruption fighting back because the former president is a corrupt person; you can quote me anywhere.”

He said: “The former president who is used to engaging in very unreasonable political comments should know that he cannot in any way be a stumbling block against the popular desire of Nigerians to give President Muhammadu Buhari a second term to rule this great nation, which unfortunately was put to a state of economic and political quagmire by the likes of Obasanjo and his cohorts.

“It’s also pertinent to note that the former president lacks the moral and political credibility to even speak in the way he is doing on the political affairs of our country,” he said, adding that Obasanjo was “involved in all sorts of corruption issues during his tenure”, and that he should not be counted on.

“Nigerians should consider him as a mere confusionist, mischievous and an enemy of true democracy in Nigeria as he has always been,” Doguwa added.

Reminded that Obasanjo was applauded when he made similar comments against former President Goodluck Jonathan, Doguwa said: “No well-meaning Nigerian should applaud Obasanjo this time around because he’s being mischievous. He may have gotten it right then, but certainly he can’t get it right this time around.”
