Gates, Dangote, Gaidam review polio immunization in Yobe
The Co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Mr. Bill Gates, Chairman of Dangote Foundation Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Yobe State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam have reviewed intervention activities for end of 2017 aimed at strengthening Routine Immunization (RI) in Yobe State under the tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the three parties.
In a teleconference meeting held in Damaturu, Gates and Dangote commended the governor for his efforts in ensuring that children in all parts of the state are reached with vaccines against polio and other child-killer diseases.
“I want to thank Governor Gaidam and all members of his government for their great job in 2017,” Dangote said.
Gates on his part also lauded the support of the governor, state ministry of health, traditional rulers and developmental partners in the immunization milestones reached in 2017 and assured more support to sustain the Polio eradication campaign.
Governor Gaidam, who expressed delight at the progress being made, promised to do more. “It is a matter of pride for me to state that through our collaborative drive, we have continued to widen coverage of primary healthcare activities and outreach immunization sessions with vaccines and other saving commodities to all eligible children and women living in all settlements across the state. We will not relent in our efforts at consolidating and improving upon the interventions efforts already put in place,” he said.
