Kogi assembly passes N151.6bn appropriation bill
The Kogi State House of Assembly has passed the 2018 appropriation bill of N151.6 billion with a call on the executive arm to ensure its full implementation.
The passage followed the third and final reading of the bill after due consideration under the leadership of the speaker, Prince Matthew Kolawole.
The budget passed indicated an increase in the earlier proposal made to the House by Governor Yahaya Bello in December 2017 which amounted to N147.8 billion.
The increase in the budget, according to the House, was meant to address some areas such as accreditation of courses in the state own institutions, road constructions and maintenance, security services, projects and training, amongst others.
The chairman of Committee on Finance, Appropriation and Budget Monitoring, Momohjimoh Lawal representing Okene II Constituency, presented the committee’s report on the appropriation bill.
According to the committee, the state government should ensure that enough funds were released to MDAs to execute capital projects, provide them with vehicles and necessary tools for their jobs.
The speaker, Prince Mathew Kolawole in his remark, thanked committee members for their relentless efforts towards making the budget a reality.
