Ramat Cup tourney gets new date

- By David Ngobua @Ngobuadavid

The kick off date for this year’s Ramat International Cup tournament billed to hold in Kano State has been fixed for February 13 instead of the earlier date of February 6-13.

The Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria, YSFON, said the earlier date of February 6-1 was not convenient because of the Local Councils polls Kano State will be holding within that period.

Thus, the president of YSFON, Alhaji Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna has announced February 13 as the opening day for the competition.

Gawuna said teams from 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, are expected to participate in the one week competition.

He said all logistics needed to host a hitch free competition are in place, adding that the State government has already given its nod towards hosting a successful tournament.

He charged the teams to exhibit high level of discipline as the people of the ancient city are ready to give them the best of hospitality throughout their stay.

Gawuna said the competition, which is staged to honour Late General Murtala Ramat Mohammed, who was killed in a coup, always draw huge number of participating teams.

“We will continue to encourage the youths to come together from across the country and in the course of their stay, inculcate in them national values,” he said.
