Bauchi APC chairman ‘impeached’

- From Balarabe Alkassim, Bauchi

Fresh crisis has erupted in Bauchi State chapter of the APC following the alleged impeachment of the state chairman, Alhaji Uba Nana by some local government chairmen of the party.

Led by the party’s chairman in Bauchi Local Government Area, Uba Nana was said to have been impeached at a meeting by five of the 17 local government chairmen of the party.

According to reports, the five APC local government chairmen who signed the impeachment paper included those of Shira, Ningi, Toro, Alkaleri and Bauchi.

When contacted on telephone, the state organising secretary of the party, Lawan Gyan Gyan, said they were aware of the alleged attempt by the five chairmen but described the move as “null and void.”

He said the Shira local government APC chairman who was purportedly appointed to replace Uba Nana as acting state chairman of the party was not at the meeting where the change was effected.

But another source close to the APC confided in our reporter that Uba Nana was removed by all the party’s chairmen in the 17 local government of the state.

Other sources said Uba Nana had been informed of the move to remove him but kept other executives of the party in the dark.

It was further gathered that the state APC leadership including the chairman and other stakeholders were holding an emergency meeting at an undisclosed location.
