Nasarawa Utd romp to 3-0 win over Yobe Stars
It was one-way traffic yesterday at the Lafia Township Stadium as Nasarawa United romped to a 3-0 win over Yobe Desert Stars in the outstanding match of week 7 in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL.
Abubakar Abdullahi and Thomas Zenke scored a goal each in the first half before former Kano Pillars man, Kabiru Balogun made it three for the ‘Solid miners’ in the 77th minute.
Nasarawa United who lost their last away match 2-1 at Go Round FC in Omuko dominated each half of the match even as their former player Philiph Auta made spirited efforts to reduce the tally.
Reacting to the victory, Nasarawa United goal scorer, Thomas Zenke expressed satisfaction with the performance of his side.
He, however, said the victory over Yobe Desert Stars was not a stroll in the part as he maintained that the visitors didn’t go down without a fight.
“It is a good one. We played well and deserved the victory. Considering that we lost our last away match, we did everything to recover the lost points.
“Yobe tested our strength but we needed the points more,” he said.
On his part, Yobe Stars captain Moses Tsehuan said the result of the match did not reflect the true performance of his team.
He said Yobe Stars did not deserve to lose with as much as three goals.
“Football is unpredictable game. We did not deserve to lose this way. Our opponents can attest to the fact that we gave them a run for their money,” he said.
