Katsina community wants gov’t to tackle gully erosion
Gundawa community in Ketare District of Kankara Llocal Government of Katsina State has called on the state government to address the ecological problem threatening their environment.
The village head, Alhaji Bilya Hussaini, who made the call during the official launching of a computer training programme organized by the Kanwa of Katsina and district head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara, said the call became necessary as the rainy season is fast approaching.
According to him, if left unchecked, the gully erosion could destroy houses, farmlands and properties.
“People the area through communal efforts have tried to check the erosion but its beyond their control, that is why we are calling on the state Ministry of Environment to as a matter of urgency come to our aid,” he said.
While thanking the of district head for all the things introduced for the development of his subjects, Hussaini pledged to support the computer training programme.
In his remarks, Alhaji Bello Kankara promised to forward their complaints to the relevant authorities for necessary action and stressed the importance of computer literacy in the twenty first century.
He said the computer training programme was organized to give the people of the area an ability to face the challenges of the digital age.
