‘Buhari committed to IDPs, others welfare’
The Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) Hajiya Sadiya Umar Faruoq said President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to the wellbeing of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and other Persons of Concerns (POC) in the country.
Faruoq said this yesterday in Abuja at the official flag-off of a Medical Outreach Programme organised by the commission and Dr Hassan’s Clinic and Diagnostic Centre in the New Kuchingoro IDP camp.
According to her, the outreach was to bring rapid response to the health challenges of IDPs in various camps in the FCT.
“The commission has received series of letters of requests from the IDPs in different locations for assistance on health issues and therefore deemed it necessary to organise this medical outreach to ameliorate the health challenges of the IDPs in FCT.
“We appreciate our copartner, Dr Hassan Hospital for keying into the commission’s mandate of providing care and maintenance to our POC,” she said.
The Medical Director of the hospital Dr Goodwill Opara, said the outreach was part of their corporate social responsibility.
He said the hospital’s team comprised physicians, optometrists, laboratory technologists, pharmacists and other health professionals to attend to the IDPs.
