Kano PDP meets gov’ship aspirants over 2019
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano has called on aspirants vying for the governorship of the state on its platform to always be guided by the party’s constitution during their campaigns.
Speaking to Daily Trust shortly after a meeting with the aspirants, the state chairman of the party, Senator Mas’ud El-Jibril Doguwa, said the meeting was aimed at sensitising the aspirants on the criteria and strategies for campaigns ahead of the 2019 general elections.
Daily Trust observed that aspirants in attendance at the meeting included Alhaji Salihu Sagir Takai, Dr Umar Musa Mustapha (Mai Mustaleta), Engineer Bello Sani Gwarzo, Alhaji Mamuda Sani Madakin Gini, Alhaji Garba Yusuf, Alhaji Jafar Sani Bello, Alhaji Sadiq Aminu Wali, Alhaji Abdullahi Sarki Yakasai, Alhaji Nasiru Madina Fagge, Alhaji Ahmed S. Aruwa, Engineer Sarki Labaran Muhammad.
Doguwa said democracy was about giving opportunities to aspirants to test their popularity. “We have informed our governorship aspirants about how to use conventional and the social media during their political campaigns in order to avoid rancour and internal conflicts among the party members,” he said.
He also said the 12 governorship aspirants that attended the meeting were intimated about the problems the party was facing in the state and urged them to contribute their quota towards tackling the issues.
“We also made it clear to them that the party is supreme and that nobody among them will be on his own. The party will continue to supervise their political activities and whoever becomes its candidate will be guided by the party constitution and ethics in his political undertakings,” he stated. and Alhaji Nasiru
