NDE trains 165 unemployed youth in Gombe

The National Directorat­e of Employment (NDE), Gombe State, has commenced training of additional 165 unemployed persons in Gombe on skill acquisitio­n.

The NDE State Coordinato­r, Malam Ibrahim Audu, said in Gombe yesterday that the agency trained 2,000 persons between January and April to empower Nigerians, especially the youth.

“The additional 165 participan­ts are going to be trained in various skills like cosmetolog­y, computer training, barbing, metal fabricatio­n and phone repairs.

“At the initial stage we recruited about 2,000 participan­ts across local government areas the state,” he said.

Audu noted that 11 of among the current participan­ts are 116 women to be trained in cosmetolog­y while the remaining 49 males would be trained in other vocations.

He said training in cosmetolog­y will last for two weeks while the other vocations will last three months.

He said the Federal Government had released the training allowances for the beneficiar­ies and trainers.

“Those for cosmetolog­y are going to be given N1,000 each, those in other skills N2,000 as transport allowances monthly and the master trainers are to be given N2,000 monthly.

He advised the beneficiar­ies to pay attention and acquire the knowledge to enable them set up their own businesses and become employers of labour. (NAN)
