Man, 52, defiles minor in Zamfara

- From Shehu Umar, Gusau Police nab 2 suspects, rescue abducted 17-month-old baby

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Zamfara State has arrested a 52-year-old man for allegedly raping a 3-year-old girl in the state capital. Parading the suspect at the state command, the NSCDC Commandant, David Abi, said the suspect, identified as Aliyu Adamu of Gadar Baga area in Gusau, was arrested following complaint laid by the father of the victim.

Abi said the suspect was accused of rape and defiling the innocent child causing her a life threatenin­g bleeding which was later stopped by medical personnel at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Gusau.

“The command has taken the victim to the FMC Gusau to stop Men of the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad (FSARS) of the Imo State Police Command have arrested two men for their alleged involvemen­t in the kidnap of a 17-month-old baby boy.

The command’s deputy spokesman, ASP Ify Ezeudeogu, said the child was kidnapped by a four-man gang on Saturday.

Ezeudeogu, who handed the bleeding from her private part and other pains in her body by medical personnel and the suspect would be charged to court as soon as investigat­ion is completed,” Abi said. He said the command recovered two pants with bloodstain­s belonging to the victim. He advised parents to be vigilant on the whereabout­s of their children.

Narrating the incident, the father of the victim (name withheld) said his daughter returned home with difficulti­es as she could not walk properly, and blood was dripping nonstop from her private part.

“Her mother and I asked where she came from and who did that to her, she then mentioned the name of the suspect who we know was always carrying the child,” he said. the rescued child over to his mother, said the hoodlums invaded the victim’s apartment around 2am, robbed them and also kidnapped the child.

She said the suspects seized the ATM cards belonging to the boy’s mother.

She added that N627,000 was said to have been paid as ransom to the suspects to release the child to the family but that they failed to release the baby after collecting the money.
