The TY Danjuma Foundation, in collaboration with All Children Charity International Foundation (ACCIF), has enrolled 120 out-of-school girls back to the classroom.

According to the team leader of ACCIF, Barrister Paul Daudu, the 120 girls were identified from three villages in Makarfi local government area of the state, namely Marke, Nassarawan Doya and Makarfi communities.

The enrolment, retention and completion of secondary school education for the 120 girls, he said, became pertinent to make them useful to themselves and the society. The project, which was commissioned at Junior Secondary School (JSS), Makarfi has 51 students in JSS 1, 29 in JSS 2, eight in JSS 3, 25 in SS 1 and seven in SS 2.

“The project in addition to the enrolment will engage the School Based Management Committees (SBMCs) and Parents Teachers Association (PTA) and the community education stakeholders in identifying and profiling families with girls not attending or missing out of school in the three project locations. The project will also gather a comprehensive data of girls not attending school or who are at the risk of dropping out of school across the mapped locations,” he explained.

The project provides the girls with textbooks, notebooks, school bags and sandals; and makes school desks available to the schools where the girls are enrolled.

Responding, the acting district head of Makarfi, Bello Muhammed Sada, commended the foundations.

The Commissioner, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Ja’afaru Sani also appreciated the partners’ efforts
