Late Oyo speaker buried

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, members of the State House of Assembly, members of Judicial arm of government, chieftains of the All Progressiv­es Congress (APC) profession­al groups, religious leaders, students, friends and colleagues shed tears yesterday when they paid their last respects to the late Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr Michael Adeyemo.

Adeyemo who represente­d Ibarapa East State Constituen­cy on the platform of the APC platform, died of severe heart attack Friday morning at Jericho Specialist Hospital, Ibadan at the age of 47.

In his sermon at the funeral service, the President, Ibadan Baptist Conference, Dr. S. Adekunle, said death was the only thing that would go round in the multitude of needs of humans.

Earlier at the special plenary held in his honour, Governor Ajimobi described the death of the speaker as unexpected, adding that it had left a gaping wound that would take time to heal.

“The speaker’s demise was a great loss to the state, the current administra­tion and the APC party,” he said.

The Nigerian Conference Speakers described the death the Speaker as a calamity.

The deputy speaker of the confrence who is also the Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Mr Edward Ubosi, described the deceased as a bridge builder who brought about the unity of all the South-East states.

In his valedictor­y speech, the Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Musa Abdulwasi, said the late lawmaker was a dedicated lawmaker who contribute­d meaningful­ly to the emergence and passage of quality bills. of of
