Unijos participates in Burkina Faso Higher Education Fair
The University of Jos Africa Centre of Excellence in Phytomedicine Research and Development (ACEPRD) yesterday joined 21 other centres of excellence from West and Central Africa to present research and development programmes and innovations at a student fair in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.
The fair which commenced on Monday is taking place on the campus of the Institute of Water and Environmental Engineering as part of the African Centres of Excellence (ACE) project and financed by the World Bank, a statement issued by Abdullahi Abdullahi, UniJos Principal Assistant Registrar, Information and Publications stated.
The statement noted that the fair will provide platform for the promotion of current programmes undertaken by 22 centres of excellence hosted by universities in nine African countries including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, and Togo.
Professor Etienne Ehilé, Secretary General of the Association of African Universities (AAU), the institution responsible for monitoring the implementation of the ACE project, had explained that “We are organizing this fair for the very first time to show the progress in higher education in Africa, and prove that young Africans can access advanced training in African universities and be internationally competitive.”
