Again, members of a proBiafra group, Biafra Zionists Federation (BZF) yesterday made another attempt to take over the Enugu Government House and declare the independent State of Biafra.

Daily Trust recalls that the same group, then known as Biafra Zionist Movement (BZM), made the same attempt during the administration of Governor Sullivan Chime but were rounded up and taken away by security forces. A police reportedly lost his life in the incident which occurred in the premises of the state government-owned Enugu State Broadcasting Service (ESBS) in the Independence Layout, Enugu.

The BZF members led by their self-made President, Benjamin Onwuka, marched to the Government House as early as 7 am, brandishing Biafra flags. They were said to have moved from the popular Bissalla Road axis to the Lion Building.

State police spokesman, SP Ebere Amaraizu confirmed the incident but did not give details.

The group had earlier vowed to be at the Government House to declare the Republic of Biafra.

Meanwhile, the sit at home order by IPOB flopped in Ebonyi and partially observed Enugu, Awka, Owerri and Umuahia. But there was total compliance in Aba and Onitsha.
