Se­cu­rity agen­cies strate­gize to end Amas­soma cri­sis

Heads of se­cu­rity agen­cies in Bayelsa State yes­ter­day re­solved to en­sure last­ing peace in Amas­soma com­mu­nity in South­ern Ijaw Lo­cal govern­ment Area of the state.

The res­o­lu­tion fol­lowed last week’s un­rest oc­ca­sioned by the protest by non-aca­demic staff of the Niger Delta Univer­sity.

The heads of se­cu­rity agen­cies, com­pris­ing the Com­mis­sioner of Po­lice, Di­rec­tor of State Se­cu­rity Ser­vice, Army, Air force and other se­cu­rity agen­cies, also promised to fight armed rob­bery, piracy, cultism and kid­nap­ping.

A state­ment by the Spe­cial Ad­viser to Gover­nor Henry Se­ri­ake Dick­son on Se­cu­rity Mat­ters, Chief Boma Spero-Jack, said the res­o­lu­tion was reached at the 42nd Se­cu­rity Coun­cil at the Govern­ment House, Ye­nagoa.
