The police in Enugu State have arrested the leader of a proBiafra group, Biafra Zionist Movement (BZM), Onwuka Kalu, and 21 of his members in the state.

The police spokesman in the state, SP Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the arrest of Onwuka and his members in a statement issued in Enugu, yesterday, said the BZM leader and his group were nabbed within Enugu metropolis based A 41-year-old housewife, who allegedly sold her husband’s house without his consent has been remanded in prison.

When docked before an FCT High Court, Jabi yesterday, the defendant, Ifeoma Ofuegbu, denied committing the offence, while the judge, Justice Vera Venda, ordered that she be remanded in Suleja Prison, and adjourned the case until June on intelligen­ce informatio­n.

Amaraizu recalled that Onwuka has been standing trial in court “over his alleged role in a murder, armed robbery and unlawful possession of firearms charge before he resurfaced today but fell into the hands of the eagle-eyed security operatives of the command.”

He said the suspects are currently helping the operatives in their investigat­ions, although he did not give circumstan­ces in which they were apprehende­d. 13, for the hearing applicatio­n.

Ofuegbu was docked on charges bordering on cheating, criminal misappropr­iation and obtaining money by false pretext.

The prosecutor, Hadiza Esai told the court that the defendant allegedly sold the house situated at Dawaki area of the FCT for N25 million. She said the alleged offences contravene­d sections 320 and 308 of the Penal Code. of her bail
