Aspirant tackles Gov Bello over made no promise’ comment ‘I
Comments credited to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State to the effect that he did not make any promise to Nigerlites during his electioneering campaign ahead of the 2015 elections are eliciting criticisms from those eyeing his seat.
Governor Bello, in an interactive session with journalists during the Democracy Day celebration, was quoted as saying that because of the challenges on ground, he was careful not to commit himself by making promises to Nigerlites.
However, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the PDP in the state, Alhaji Aminu Mohammed Baka, described the comment as shocking and disheartening.
In a statement, yesterday, in Minna, Baka said Governor Bello, by such utterance, had admitted publicly that he was not prepared for office and had no definite development blueprint before assuming office.
Baka also alleged that Governor Bello was not qualified for leadership, adding that it was “President Muhammadu Buhari’s tsunami that merely brought Bello to power.”
The aspirant said it was “not surprising that three years down the line, the governor was at a loss on what to do with the mandate the good people of the state gave to him as evident in his dismal performance in all indices of development.”
He, therefore, urged Nigerlites not to gamble again with their future by returning the incumbent for another term of four years as “doing so will be disastrous for the state and its people.”
