Fadama launches Cash-for-Work programme for Yobe youth
The Fadama III Additional Funding ll in Yobe on Thursday launched a cash-for-work projects in Babbangida town of Tarmuwa Local Government area of Yobe, to empower youth in communities devastated by activities of insurgents.
Mr Tayo Adewunmi, National Project Coordinator of Fadama III AF II, said 3,600 returnees had been targeted in the cashfor-work programme in the state.
He said the beneficiaries were to receive cash in exchange for participation in tree planting, soil conservation and sanitation programmes, among others.
Adewunmi, who was represented by National Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Mamman Manzo, said the Cash-for-Work Programme would assist the beneficiaries in reclaiming their lives from the destructions caused by insurgency.
‘The cash-for- work programme is to provide immediate employment to Internally Displaced Persons returning to their communities,” he said.
Alhaji Mohammed Gidado, Chairman, Tarmuwa Local Government Council, commended Fadama III AF II for providing food and livelihood support to victims of insurgency, as well as providing rural infrastructure and empowering youth through the Cash-forWork Programme.
Sani Kukuri, Acting State Project Coordinator of the programme, assured that adequate support and intervention would be provided to targeted beneficiaries to assist them reclaim their lives.(NAN)
