Fadama launches Cash-for-Work programme for Yobe youth

The Fadama III Additional Funding ll in Yobe on Thursday launched a cash-for-work projects in Babbangida town of Tarmuwa Local Government area of Yobe, to empower youth in communitie­s devastated by activities of insurgents.

Mr Tayo Adewunmi, National Project Coordinato­r of Fadama III AF II, said 3,600 returnees had been targeted in the cashfor-work programme in the state.

He said the beneficiar­ies were to receive cash in exchange for participat­ion in tree planting, soil conservati­on and sanitation programmes, among others.

Adewunmi, who was represente­d by National Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Mamman Manzo, said the Cash-for-Work Programme would assist the beneficiar­ies in reclaiming their lives from the destructio­ns caused by insurgency.

‘The cash-for- work programme is to provide immediate employment to Internally Displaced Persons returning to their communitie­s,” he said.

Alhaji Mohammed Gidado, Chairman, Tarmuwa Local Government Council, commended Fadama III AF II for providing food and livelihood support to victims of insurgency, as well as providing rural infrastruc­ture and empowering youth through the Cash-forWork Programme.

Sani Kukuri, Acting State Project Coordinato­r of the programme, assured that adequate support and interventi­on would be provided to targeted beneficiar­ies to assist them reclaim their lives.(NAN)
