We’ll change the narrative about Nigeria — Alliance party

- By Ifah Ele Sunday & Adegun Dapo

Leaders of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), one of the newly registered political parties, yesterday, said they will change the narrative relating to democracy, good governance and service to the people.

National Chairman of ANN, Dr. Jay Osi Samuels, during the formal commissioning of the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, said their strength lay in the hands of multitude of Nigerians who felt disenchanted with the way politicians mismanaged the system for nearly two decades.

Flanked by other national officials of the party, Samuels said another unique selling point of their party was that it was formed by professionals who were tired of recycled politicians.

“More than 70 per cent of our members had before now distanced themselves from politics because they were not satisfied with the way things are; but they are now convinced that ANN is the best place to be. We have many of our members who fought for the Not Too Young To Run bill and we are all out to prove to other political parties that we mean business; things will no longer be the same,” he said.

He assured that the party would uphold internal democracy, which according to him, was the bedrock of any serious political party that was out to work for the people.

Samuels who chided the ruling APC for failing Nigerians, said they had a different and realistic plan.

“We are mindful of where we are today. The APC made so many promises and are now denying them; we as a party would do things differently, we would show it by our actions. When we form government which would be enthroned by the people, we would not be afraid to do the needful. We would provide employment through private sectordriven economy without massaging the ego of few,” he said.
