The Rotary International District 9125 has added about 714 members to its ranks within the last Rotary year.

The District Governor, Rotary District 9125, Engr. Nnoka Mbanefo Ositadinma, disclosed this at the district’s 9th conference held recently in Abuja.

District 9125 is one of the four Rotary International Districts in Nigeria and covers roughly 23 states and Abuja.

Ositadinma said the essence of the conference was to celebrate the achievements of the district in the last year.

The Rotary year begins on July 1 and ends on June 30.

“I promised I am going to increase membership of Rotary by 600 which has never been achieved before in the history of this district,” he said.

“Today, we have got in about 714 new Rotarians across the district and before the end of the year, I am sure we are going to hit 800 members,” Ositadinma said.

The governor said a lot of projects were started and completed in communities that needed urgent intervention across the district within the last Rotary year under his leadership.

“Across the districts we have sunk about 25 boreholes which cost about N25 million, 14 health centres have been started and completed across the district costing N5m each. We have supplied books to libraries of different schools and equipped students with school uniforms, and sandals. We have also built classrooms, staff rooms, among other numerous projects,” he said.

The conference featured key personalities including the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, as guest speaker.
