Moneybags’ll lose Oyo gov’ship race — Adelabu

- From Jeremiah Oke, Ibadan

Year 2019 is a defining one for the people of Oyo State as they will reject money-bag politicians that have no cogent contributions to the development of the state, a leading gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Chief Bayo Adelabu, said yesterday.

Adelabu said with the latest development in the state, the electorate had decided to scrutinise and interrogate contestants to ensure that the best man with outstanding pedigree emerged as the occupant at Agodi Government House.

The immediate past Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said any money bag politician planning to purchase the conscience of the electorate for a pot of porridge should have a rethink because he will lose his deposits.

Adelabu spoke to journalists in Ibadan in continuation of his consultations to Oluyole local government headquarters of the APC and the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, where he received royal blessing for the 2019 race.

Responding to a question on the gale of defections across political parties, Adelabu, who is a grandson of one of the founding fathers of Nigeria, Alhaji Adegoke Adelabu Penkelemesi, said “our nascent democracy is fast improving and maturing. No mediocre can hide under any political party to contest election again in Oyo State.”
