NIGCOMSAT not for sale, FG says

The Fed­eral Gov­ern­ment said it has no in­ten­tion to sell the Nige­ria Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Satel­lite (NIGCOMSAT) Ltd.

The Board Chair­man, NIGCOMSAT Ltd, Dr Ge­orge Moghalu made this known when the board paid a cour­tesy call on the Min­is­ter of Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Ade­bayo Shittu in Abuja.

Dr Moghalu how­ever chal­lenged the man­age­ment and staff of the com­pany to brace up to the chal­lenge of fund­ing the com­pany, say­ing very soon, the fed­eral gov­ern­ment fund­ing would not be avail­able and NIGCOMSAT would have to sur­vive on its own.

He said the re­spon­si­bil­ity to that NIGCOMSAT Ltd sur­vives in­de­pen­dent en­tity falls on all com­pany.

‘‘We are here to en­quire as to what must be done to change the prog­no­sis and en­sure as an in the im­prove the out­comes for NIGCOMSAT Ltd. We are here to de­velop a pro­gram of short, medium and long-term ob­jec­tives that if ex­e­cuted with panache and ded­i­ca­tion, will al­low this com­pany to tri­umphantly emerge from this pe­riod of reg­u­la­tory and economic tur­moil, un­scathed and bet­ter po­si­tioned to cre­ate new op­por­tu­ni­ties for com­mer­cial suc­cess even whilst tak­ing ad­van­tage of the op­por­tu­ni­ties that al­ready ex­ist,’’ he said.
