Man arrested for allegedly killing his 60-year-old sister

- NDLEA arrests 2 suspected drug dealers, destroys 4.3864 hectares of cannabis

A39-year-old male resident of Gangare quarters in Awak town of Kaltungo LGA of Gombe State was arrested by the state police command over alleged murder of his 60-year-old sister.

The suspect Abubakar Ayuba was arrested by the police for a case of culpable homicide, after he allegedly killed his sister, one Yabinu Ibrahim, 60, with a stick.

A statement by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Obed Mary Malum, said “The suspect used a stick and hit his sister severally and thereby killed her, after he suspected her to have bewitched and killed his daughter, one Adama.”

DSP Malum said the suspect would be charged to court after investigat­ion is concluded.

In another developmen­t, the state command said it has handed over herds of cattle it recovered from suspected cattle rustlers to their rightful owner.

According to the command’s PPRO, the owner one Alhaji Mohammed Umar of Borno Kurukuru village of Bali LGA of Taraba State surfaced and identified the cattle intercepte­d at Kurjele village in July 2018 by operatives from Dadin Kowa police division.

Malum said the identified his cattle, he said were stolen communal clash in Dorawa/Mararraba owner which after a Gindin Bayisa village in Donga LGA of Taraba State. Meanwhile, the state Commission­er of Police, Mr Tairu Shina Olukolu, said the command has arrested and secured the conviction of 142 members of notorious Kalare groups in the last 10 months from various courts.

Addressing newsmen at the weekend in Gombe, Olukolu said 18 others have been remanded in prison awaiting trial for various offenses ranging from armed robbery, culpable homicide and rape.

The CP added that the command ha also recovered 612 dangerous weapons which includes; Dane gun, locally made pistols, cutlasses, knives, axes, cartridges, bow and arrows among others from the Kalare groups.
