Kwankwaso hosts supporters in Kano
Former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso yesterday visited Kano where he met with his supporters, more than two years after his last visit.
The visit yesterday came two days after the former governor endorsed candidates for various offices ahead of the 2019 polls.
Kwankwaso, who recently defected from the APC to PDP, met with his supporters at his private residence on Miller road, Fagge, Kano, with sources saying he used the opportunity to justify his choices for 2019.
Kwankwaso, a PDP presidential aspirant had at the weekend in Kaduna endorsed his son-in-law, Abba Kabiru Yusuf, as PDP gubernatorial aspirant, which raised dust.
At the meeting with stakeholders of the Kwankwasiyya Movement in Kaduna, Kwankwaso also picked one of his allies, Aminu Abdulsalam as deputy gubernatorial aspirant of the PDP.
The development had changed the calculations of ex deputy governor of Kano State, Prof. Hafizu Abubakar and Malam Salihu Sagir Takai, who were all angling to get the PDP ticket.
While Prof. Hafiz resigned his position as deputy to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje and visibly aligned himself with Kwankwaso, Takai, a close ally of ex Governor Ibrahim Shekarau had also refused to leave the PDP, all in an effort of clinch the ticket. He was the party’s gubernatorial candidate in 2015.
