House maids docked over theft of master’s N14.3m

Two house helps, Christophe­r Ikpan and Favour Sunday, were yesterday arranged before an Ogba Chief Magistrate Court for allegedly bolting away with their master’s 30,000 pounds sterling (about N14.3m).

Police said that the two accused persons allegedly broke into their madam’s bed room located at Alhaji Jubril Laide Street, off Emmanuel Keshi area, Magodo while she was away and made away with the said amount kept in a secret safe

The Police said the is equivalent to N4.7 million Cecilia Nsonwu.

The Police Prosecutor, Inspector V. Eruda, said that the complainan­t had engaged the two as house helps about a year ago.

The Prosecutor said that the two suspects had bolted away with the said money.

He said that after the theft, the accused parked their belongings and left the house without informing anyone.

He said that the complainan­t after discoverin­g the theft, after she returned from her trip, reported the matter to the police and that it took belonging to Mrs. the prompt response of the police at FSARs to track the accused to their hideout from where they were arrested.

The accused pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Inspector V. Eruda, did not oppose their being granted bail but asked the court for adjournmen­t for the trial.

Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M.I. Dan-Oni, granted them bail in the sum of N1million with two sureties in like sum, they were remanded in prison custody pending when they will perfect their bail condition. The matter was adjourned till October 3, 2018.
