2019: Buhari remains best for us — Oyegun
The immediate past national chairman of the All Progress Congress, John Odigie Oyegun, says President Muhammadu Buhari remains the light house Nigeria needs in 2019.
Addressing journalists yesterday in Benin, Edo State, in an interaction with journalists, Oyegun said: “In a country that lacks heroes, Buhari stands out. We must re-present the very positive traits of integrity and honesty in him; I believe that is what the nation needs now. Buhari is that light house that we need in a society that is enveloped in darkness of corruption, lack of standards, ethics and morality. He may not be perfect like any other human being, but he is what the nation needs at the moment to ensure steady growth”.
On the recent governorship poll in Osun State, Oyegun said the Independent National Electoral Commission should be commended for allowing the people to freely express their will, ensure votes count democracy to prevail.
He appealed to Osun voters in the remaining wards in the Thursday’s rerun election to reward the APC.
He also said that Buhari’s recent statement on national interest and rule of law was interpreted in its extreme.
“The little that I know about the law, take the case of doctrine of necessity as an example, it was not in our book, nor in our constitution, but it was invoked to save the nation and ensure and peace. You do a little wrong so that the greater good will prevail,” he said.
Oyegun said the principal people truly convicted for corruption were APC members
According to him, joining the APC does not stop or protect members from prosecution as those who have corruption cases hanging on them are still facing trial.
He blamed the challenges confronting the country on inconsistency of leadership, lack of positive ethics and corruption.
