Police arrest 14 kidnappers, rustlers in Sokoto
The Sokoto State Police Command yesterday said it had arrested 14 suspected kidnappers.
The command said it also arrested some rustlers and recovered 553 sheep and rams. The spokesman of the command, Cordelia Nwawe, disclosed this to journalist.
She said two of the suspects, Bello Ibrahim Mai Udda and Bello Tambari, were kidnapping persons at Tulluwa and neighbouring villages of Rabah Local Government.
“It was only on 09/09/2018 that luck ran against them when they went to the house of one Umaru Ardo Bako ‘M’ of Tulluwa village and kidnap his two children Muh’d Sambo ‘M’ and Fatima Ardo ‘F’ to neighboring Gumdumi forest of Zamfara state.”
She added that they collected N800, 000.00k before releasing Fatima, but killed Musa Sambo who proved to have identified two of the kidnappers.
Also arrested were Muhammad Sani Abubakar and Bello Muhammad of Tungan Dandalo village of Rabah Local Government, who were alleged to have participated in several cattle rustling and kidnapping activities in the area.
“The two, in conjunction with Jamilu Bengel , Danbari Bagire and one Sale all ‘M’ of the same address now at large, conspired and went to
Lugga village where they kidnapped one Ali and took him to Sakrawa forest,” Mani said.
She said all the suspects would be charged to court after investigation.
