Kaduna crisis: Caution your subjects, NSCDC tells traditional, opinion leaders

- From Maryam Ahmadu-Suka, Kaduna

The Commandant, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Modu Bunu, has told traditional and opinion leaders to caution their subjects against violence and embrace peace as virtues of both Islam and Christianity.

Reacting to the unrest which engulfed the state on Sunday, Bunu, in a statement yesterday, by the Public Relations Officer of the Corps, ASC Orndiir Terzungwe, called on the people of the state to stop circulating rumours aimed at creating unnecessary tension on the unfortunate security situation in the state.

According to the statement, “Kaduna-Abuja Express way at Gonin-Gora, Abuja Junction and Command Junction were safe for travelers as against the rumours circulated that commuters were been killed and vehicles burnt. Those who indulge in such practice are enemies of peace whose mission is unknown.

“Therefore, others who love peace as being necessary for development should shun them and treat them as enemies of the state. The fact that some parts of Kajuru and Chikun LGAs precisely, Kujama, marabaRido and Sabo-tasha were reported to have witnessed unrest in the afternoon didn’t mean that the places mentioned earlier were also affected.”

The statement noted that the state commandant of the NSCDC Modu Bunu, had directed full deployment of personnel in collaboration with other agencies to ensure that maximum peace is restored.
