Buhari supporters storm Suleja

- From Ahmed Tahir Ajobe, Minna

Despite the discontent and misgiving that trailed the outcome of the ruling APC primaries in Niger State, party supporters yesterday grounded Suleja Town in solidarity with the 2019 presidential ambition of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The supporters, including women and youths, who converged on the ancient town from the three local government areas of Gurara, Tafa and Suleja, said despite the seeming anomaly at the primaries, President Buhari remained their candidate for the 2019 presidential election.

They also pledged their loyalty to the APC.

They took to major streets in the town bearing placards with inscriptions such as “No Alternative to Buhari “, “Buhari X2”, “We Say No To Corruption”.

The leader of the team, Malam Abdullahi Yusuf Tafa, said they were identifying with the president for his many achievements in all sectors.

Tafa specifically commended the president for his successes against Boko Haram, the anti-corruption war and massive infrastructural development across the country.

They used the avenue to welcome the Member representing Suleja/Tafa and Gurara in the House of Representatives, Malam Abubakar Lado Abdullahi, who had just regained freedom from police custody.

In an interview with journalists at the occasion, Abdullahi thanked his colleagues at the National Assembly for rallying round him during his ordeal in the hands of the police.

He also commended his supporters for their prayers and solidarity, while also expressing his support for the re-election bid of President Buhari in 2019.
