Group canvasses support for Civil Defence
A civil society group, Coalition of Civil Societies and Media Executives for Good Governance in Nigeria (COCMECG) yesterday called on Nigerians to support the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.
In a statement by its executive director, Omoba Kenneth Aigbegbele, the group said the NSCDC had deployed officers to secure schools in the northeast region.
He said the corps had also deployed officers to provide and protect physical security for agroallied investments both domestic and international and the proposed cattle ranches across the country.
He said the NSCDC had greatly reduced threats and all forms of disaster incidence across the country through its professional intelligence gathering mechanism manpower development.
“There is rapid improvement in disaster management as first responders to disaster occurrence and control which has helped the country to curb the high incidence of disasters and other security challenges. and We are encouraged by Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu’s leadership style and more importantly, his remarkable and selfless campaign on disaster management, search and rescue, rehabilitation, reintegration, mitigation and the protection of key national assets and infrastructure across the country,” he said.
Aigbegbele also applauded the supervisory role of the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazua, which, according to him, has become a propeller of change that has the master plan for the proactive results so far achieved.
