ALGON sets up task force to check multiple taxation
The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has set up a special task force to check multiple taxation in all local governments in the country.
The Chairman of the task force and ALGON Chairman of Kogi State, Dr. Taufiq Isa, disclosed this at the maiden meeting of the task force in Abuja where representatives from most of the states were in attendance.
Dr. Isa said the task force was a major strategy by ALGON to check the menace of multiple tax collection in all the sectors of the economy.
He said the task force was going to issue a unified receipt for every sector so as to check the bad practice so that money realised from taxation would be accounted for and put to good use for all Nigerians.
He added that the decision of the task force was backed by a legislation from the National Assembly, and added that ALGON would liaise with a bank to issue one type of receipt for each sector which would be used across the country.
