No fuel scarcity in De­cem­ber, Baru re­as­sures Nige­ri­ans

The Group Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor of the Nige­rian Na­tional petro­chem­i­cals, Pe­tro­leum Cor­po­ra­tion (NNPC), Dr Maikanti Baru has re­as­sured Nige­ri­ans that the fuel scarcity which par­a­lyzed ac­tiv­i­ties in De­cem­ber 2017, will not re­oc­cur this year as all hands are on deck to en­sure ad­e­quate fuel sup­ply through­out the fes­tive pe­riod.

Baru made the com­mit­ment yes­ter­day dur­ing the on­go­ing La­gos In­ter­na­tional trade fair [LITF] or­ga­nized by the La­gos Cham­ber of Com­merce and In­dus­try [LCCI].

The GMD fur­ther said the cor­po­ra­tion has “More than enough fuel sup­ply to fore­stall a scarcity.”

The GMD who was rep­re­sented by the Chief Op­er­at­ing Of­fi­cer (COO) Down­stream, Engr Henry Obi, said, the cor­po­ra­tion will con­tinue to sup­ply pe­tro­leum and gas prod­ucts in the coun­try adding that a tremen­dous progress in terms of tank ex­pan­sion, re­tail out­lets, fix­ing of van­dal­ized pipe­lines, among oth­ers, have been made in re­cent times

Ear­lier in his ad­dress, the Pres­i­dent of the LCCI, Mr Ba­batunde Ruwase called on the govern­ment to wield the needed po­lit­i­cal will to en­sure the pas­sage of the Pe­tro­leum In­dus­try Gov­er­nance Bill (PIGB) with­out any fur­ther de­lay. re­cur­rence of the 2017 fuel
