Olashore School marks silver jubilee in Lagos
Olashore International School Lagos is marking its silver jubilee as it unveils a logo to portray the numerous successes of its alumni.
During the logo unveiling of the 25th anniversary in Lagos, the CEO/Principal of the school, Mr Derek Smith said it was established on February 18th, 1994 and has produced many successful alumni that have been projecting the school’s and Nigeria’s image.
Mr Smith said the school develops leaders, building fine character and inculcating knowledge.
He said, “We have seen our students graduate with First Class degrees from universities across the globe. For instance, In 2017, amongst our First Class graduates were Peace Eze Class of 2012, from University of Louisiana, Oluwatunmike Olowe (Class of 2013) from Redeemers University in Nigeria, amongst others.
“For this consistent top level academic performance by Olashore graduates, I was pleased to receive the 2018 Africa Outstanding School CEO Award,” Smith added. A 2017 graduate of Theatre and Cultural Studies at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Gloria Akayi Asoloko has won the 2018 Society of Nigerian Theatre Artist (SONTA) playwright of the year.
She was announced as award winner of the 2018 SONTA/Olu Obafemi Prize for Playwriting at SONTA’s 31st annual conference held at Federal University, Ekiti State.

The school’s head mentioned some of its outstanding alumni to include Obinna Okwodu who won the Forbes Most Promising Entrepreneur award; Bode Olanipekun, Nigeria’s youngest Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). “Today, we pride ourselves in all round success, beyond the classrooms,” Smith added.
Chairman, Board of Trustees, Prince Abimbola Olashore said the special focus on secondary school education is pinned on the founder’s conviction of moulding teenagers in their early formative years.
