Lokosa says he targeted 30 goals last season
Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) highest goalscorer for the 2017/2018 season Junior Lokosa said he was disappointed over the abrupt end to the league last season, saying that he had targeted to finish the league with 30 goals.
Speaking at the inaugural Eunisell Boot Award where he emerged the winner, the Kano Pillars goal poacher said that every striker has in mind the number of goals to score before the commencement of every season.
Lokosa, who netted 19 goals last season, and also pocketed N3.8 million, being N200,000 for each goal he scored, lauded the organizers for their commitment.
“I am overwhelmed at Eunisell’s determination to change the status of Nigerian footballers and the game. Today it is Junior Lokosa; tomorrow it could be another player.
“It is a big challenge for all of us in the league and we must keep improving so that other companies will emulate what Eunisell is doing here. Thank you Eunisell, thank you to my team and coach, I am really grateful. Winning this award has brought me into the lime light and has boosted my profile, now I am in the Super Eagles,” he said.
Earlier, the Group Managing Director of Eunisell Limited, Mr. Chika Ikenga said the award was geared towards motivating players that ply their in the domestic leagues.

“We are here to honour the top goal scorer of the 2017/2018 NPFL season - Junior Lokosa of Kano Pillars who scored a magnificent 19 goals in a season that was cut short, making his achievement even more memorable. With each goal valued at N200,000 by Eunisell, Lokosa received the sum of N3.8million and a trophy.
