Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Consultative Forum in the North East has come up with some developmental agenda to table before President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Northeast APC elders, who have commenced strategising for the victory of the president in the February 16 presidential election, said the agenda would be a continuation of the good work that the president started for the region.

Rising from a meeting in Abuja, the elders, led by former Bauchi State governor, Malam Isa Yuguda, said part of the issues discussed was the security in the six states of the region as well as the remedial measures adopted in tackling the issue.

The agenda they intended to present to the president included the recharging of Lake Chad, dredging of Nguru wetlands, reconstruction of Kafin Zaki Dam and River Yao Dam in Yobe State, speedy completion of railways with standard gauge across the region and speedy implementation of the North East Development Commission.

Others were speedy completion of Mambila Hydroelectric power, dredging of River Benue/ Gongola, Kiri and Dadin Kowa, development/construction of irrigation canals across the region, creating an enabling environment for entrepreneurs to thrive, speedy actualization of oil exploration in the region, construction of Zungur-Bagel and Dindima dams, construction of Ibbi bridge linking other states, among others.

Speaking to Daily Trust via telephone on the agenda, a member of the forum, Abdulmumini Muhammad Kundak, appreciated the present administration for all that it has been doing for the region.
