Maulud: Ajimobi, Alaafin preach love, peaceful co-existence
Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi and the Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi yesterday reiterated the need for peaceful co-existence of Nigerians regardless of their ethno-religious backgrounds.
They spoke at the Year 1440AH(2018) Maulid Nabiyy celebration held at the Remembrance Arcade, Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, organised by the state government.
Ajimobi who introduced the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2019 general elections in the state, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, to the Muslim community, urged Muslims to support his candidature for community of his good work in the state.
A famous Islamic cleric, Sheik Muhydeen Bello, who delivered sermon on the occasion, told Adelabu to confirm his religion to the gathering based on conflicting reports on his faith.
Adelabu’s therefore said he was born as a Muslim and had not converted to another religion.
Oba Adeyemi, in his goodwill message, called on all Muslims to be upright and honest in their dealings with people regardless of their religion background.
Speaking further, Ajimobi said he prayed that the person that would succeed him in office should be God-fearing, and God answered his prayers by ensuring that Adelabu emerged as the APC governorship candidate.
