Gates, Dangote, UNICEF laud Yobe over immunisation
The co-chairman of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates; the chairman of Dangote Foundation, Aliko Dangote and the UNICEF have lauded the progress made by the Yobe State Government in the immunisation of children within the last six months.
Gates and Dangote spoke on Monday via video-conference at an end of the year tripartite review meeting held in Damaturu yesterday as part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the two foundations and the state government on routine immunization.
“It is encouraging to see improved results on routine immunization over the last four rounds…Yobe State has shown the greatest improvement among all the six participating states. I give you a plus to that”, Gates said. He commended Governor Ibrahim Gaidam for the commitment of his administration, urging him to sustain the tempo and not to allow political activities affect the progress made.
Dangote, who was represented by the Managing Director, Dangote Companies, Zuwaira Yusuf, also commended the ‘solid progress’ made in Yobe State, saying it had saved more lives.
UNICEF Chief of Field for Borno and Yobe States Mr Geoffre Ljumba said Yobe “is a shining star” in the pack with the progress being made.
