- From Ismail Adebayo, Birnin Kebbi

A man and his wife have reportedly snatched a car from a staff of the Federal University in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State. The car, a Peugeot 406 it was learnt, was snatched from Umar Abubakar by the couple near the legislature’s quarters along Sani Abacha by-pass in Birnin Kebbi.

The victim said he offered the family lift to City Guest Inn and that they snatched the car on the way. He said, “They told me they were stranded and were looking for a lift to City Guest Inn. I picked them and suddenly as we were going they brought out a bottle of CocaCola, opened it and offered it to me. I rejected it and that was all I could remember. I woke up in an uncompleted building after three days and my car was gone.” He said it was a cattle herder who knew his family that contacted them. “But the criminals made away with my blue Peugeot 406 car, credentials, office identity card, voter’s card, ATM cards, electrical equipment, family photographs and the sum of N180,000,” he added.

The spokesman for Kebbi State Police command, DSP Danjuma Possy, said the matter has not been reported to the police.
