Kano set to host international Horse racing competition
The Newly inaugurated Kano State Turf Club is set to play its first major role in international racing through the hosting of an annual International Horse racing competition titled “Sukuwa”.
The chairman of the club, Tajudeen Dantata, disclosed this on Monday in Kano when he paid a courtesy visit to the chairman of Kano State Sport Commission, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima.
Dantata said that the racing competition would conform with set international standards, adding that modalities had been put in place to ensure its success.
According to him, renovation works had commenced at the Kano Race Course with the intent to upgrade the facility to conform with laid down international standard.
Dantata appealed to the commission to grant the club the permission to embark on the construction of a club secretariat and the permission to minimize the number of entry gates into Race Course for the purpose of ensuring maximum security.
“I am also appealing to the commission to permit the construction of stables in and around Race Course, the construction of stables if permitted will ease the hardship faced in the management of horses,” he said.
The chairman also said that the turf club was willing to partner with the commission to develop new sports facilities on Kano Race Course grounds.(NAN)
