Reconciliation c’ttees to find ‘inhouse-solution’ in APC — Oshiomhole

- By Muideen Olaniyi

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, said yesterday that the peace and reconciliation committee set up for each of the six geo-political zones were meant to find ‘in-house- solution’ to the challenges facing the party.

Oshiomhole said this during the inauguration of the committees headed by six governors in different geo-political zones to address the post-primary elections disputes.

He expressed optimism that the committees led by the governors would help the party to reconcile aggrieved members, adding that it was not possible for all aspirants contesting one ticket to be the candidate.

He added that the national reconciliation and peace committee was split into six committees to help fast-track the process.

Oshiomhole, who said the committees were free to consult them on new issues that might arise in the course of their assignments, added that the terms of reference given to them were amenable.

“I believe the house is bigger than it was four years ago. We are delivering on promises we made. Of 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), I believe we have done exceedingly well.

“We do have states where people feel uncomfortable with the outcome of the primaries….those who the system does not favour feel disappointed. Some people are bitter resulting to statements that may be unhelpful going forward as a party…,” he said.

Responding on behalf of others, the chairman of APC National Peace and Reconciliation Committee (South West) and Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, underscored the need for the party to put its house in order.

He promised that the committees would not disappoint the party, stressing that the APC was planning to win in 30 States in 2019.

“We are in control of 23 states; such hiccups are inevitable in every political dispensation. We will try our best to reconcile aggrieved members,” he said.
