Group guarantees S’West for Buhari

- From Jeremiah Oke, Ibadan

The Restructured Grassroots Mobilisation for APC (RGMA), a group working for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari in the South West, yesterday, explained why the president will win in the region with a landslide.

The National Patron of the group, Barr. Abdulrazaq Agbolade Dokunmu, said the opposition PDP has made it easier for the ruling party to defeat its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in 2019 by not considering any aspirant from the region.

Barr. Agbolade said while the PDP denied the South West the position of national chairman, its presidential candidate further isolated the region by picking his running mate, Mr. Peter Obi, from the South East.

“The opposition PDP has made our job easier in the six South West states after treating the zone with opprobrium and disdain during their elective convention leading to the emergence of Uche Secondus as the party’s national chairman even when the opportunity presented itself for the PDP to seize the moment to set a stage for a fierce political contest in the ruling party’s stronghold,” he said.

Dokunmu further said, “This political decision, in addition to numerous infrastructural projects which the APC administration is putting in place across the length and breadth of the zone, must definitely count for something in the February 2019 elections.”

He, therefore, called on Nigerians beyond the South West to join the APC in taking the country to the next level.
